What Happened in September
Consultant Workshop Two: Solution Validation
On the 1st of September, our consultants experienced their second workshop all about solution validation. Our consultants were pushed to move out of the problem spaces they had been given, equipping them with tactics to successfully identify solutions to their problems.
Consultants ran through various activities to analyse the impacts of their prospective solutions - perceiving their solutions through the lenses of strategic fit, implementation, risks and mitigations, as well as feasibility.
It was great to see this workshop helping our consultants in bolstering their solutions for their client - we are excited to see how this helps them moving forward prior to their pitches!
Careers in Consulting: Starting Your Consulting Journey
On Monday the 12th of September UTSCC held our second Careers in Consulting Workshop, all about students starting their consulting journey. Attendees were taught all of the ways to put their best foot forward when boosting their consulting applications - this included tips on writing resumes and cover letters, techniques when taking psychometric testing/video interviews, as well as how to optimise their LinkedIn profiles.
To engage in practical experience, attendees engaged in practice interviews with UTSCC Execs, providing them with a valuable opportunity to put what they had learnt to action.
Through these valuable insights, students learnt how to put their best selves forward when applying to consulting firms to increase the chances of securing an interview!
Consultant Workshop Three: Pitching & Delivery
On Thursday the 15th of September, UTSCC held our third workshop of the consultant program! The workshop equipped our consultants with all the skills they needed to deliver an effective and engaging pitch and presentation.
The consultants were taken through what makes a good pitch, how to create effective slide designs as well as the importance of incorporating a story structure throughout their pitch. Additionally, the consultants ran through a fun and practical exercise where they had to pitch and sell obscure products.
It was great to see all the consultants having fun in the workshop whilst also gaining valuable skills!
Finance Fundamentals Workshop
On Monday the 26th of September UTSCC held our Finance Fundamentals workshop for our consultants as they continue through the consulting program. Held over Zoom, consultants were taken through all of the financial knowledge that they would need to bolster their solutions to their client, whilst also how to effectively communicate this in a presentation. Ranging from quantifying their solutions, to forecasting, to assumptions and proxies, consultants were also taught how to clearly present this information on their slides to validate the solutions they have been consolidating.
We are sure that this workshop proved valuable for our consultants as they enter the final stage of the program, and look forward to seeing how it helps them as they enter into their presentations!
